período 1995 a 2012.
This study investigates the relationship between domestic savings and investment in Brazil during the period 1995-2012. The results obtained from a VAR model with structural breaks indicate Granger bicausality, suggesting not only that economic policy decisions on these two variables must be taken together, as well as evidence of the validity of the Feldstein-Horioka puzzle. Furthermore, it is observed that the response of domestic savings rate to an unexpected shock in the investment rate is more significant over the period, as well as greater reliance on domestic savings rate relative to the rate of investment.
